Formed in 2003, our aim is to preserve, repair and restore the fabric of our ancient Parish Church – Saints Cosmas & Damian. As the church is over 700 years old, if we want it to last, and to continue to serve our community, we need to raise funds for some essential repairs. We must ensure the fabric of the building, as well as the interior murals do not deteriorate. Grants have been, and currently are painstakingly applied for, however these charitable grants are seldom given without evidence of members’ participation in fund raising - see our calendar below, and join us at our various events.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE FRIENDS is open to ANYONE who is concerned for the future of the building of our church. Annual family membership £20 and annual individual members £10. Why not email avrobond@tiscali.co.uk (Avril Bond) for a membership form?

FUND-RAISING EVENTS 2008!
LOOK OUT FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR "FRIENDS" & "PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL" FUND-RAISING EVENTS IN THE FORESTER, VILLAGE NOTICEBOARDS, CHALLOCK POST OFFICE & BARN SHOP -
BEECH COURT FETE - Sunday 15th June - Fathers Day - Raised £1,500 for our church!! Beautiful weather drew the crowds to enjoy favourite stalls, music and some new games.
ART FESTIVAL - Sat/Sun 26th & 27th July - 10.30am to 5.30pm at Ss Cosmas & Damian Church. A wonderful huge display of amazing local artists, with picture sales and refreshments raising £1,600 towards the murals restoration.
"FRIENDS" MUSIC FESTIVAL WEEKEND - our church really came alive to the sounds of a JAZZ EVENING Fri 15th Aug. - Wide-ranging Jazz (from Fats Waller to Gershwin to Dave Brubeck) with Challock's own extremely talented Ken Roberts (piano). CAMEO OPERA Sat 16th Aug. - A delightful candlelit opera night - both nights were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, raising £900 - congratulations to organiser Freda and all helpers, donating food etc.
CHURCH FLOWER FESTIVAL - Bank Holiday Weekend - Sat. 23rd, Sun. 24th & Mon. 25th August. Although the Bank Holiday weekend weather was not the best £2,000 was raised - many thanks one and all!
FISH & CHIP SUPPER - Friday 19th September - Amanda's Barn - featuring "George Formby"! Tickets £12 at Challock Post Office!

"FRIENDS" SAFARI SUPPER - Sat. 29th November - (in and around Challock) - Delicious three course meal and wine at three different venues! Guests given address of first course host - thereafter given directions for main course host - all meet at third venue for dessert and coffee! Tickets (£20 per person)and information: Liz 01233 712427 or 07967 639508 (tickets will be available for sale at Challock Post Office also).
